Cello Day Scotland is an online, mass-cello event open to school-age cellists of all abilities from Edinburgh, North Ayrshire and Renfrewshire Councils.

It will take place on the 13th May (4:30-5:30pm) and 20th May (4:30-6pm) 2021 and will be a chance for young musicians across the country to meet, make friends, collaborate, and perform as an online cello orchestra of over 60 members.

Over the course of these two sessions, there will be mass rehearsals, smaller ability-tailored group sessions, games, and time to get to know each other. Our young people will learn how to work together in a larger ensemble as we play a programme of Pop and Scottish Folk music arranged by cello teachers to be fun and accessible to cellists of all levels.

After our second session, students will be asked to submit an audio recording of their parts, to be edited together to form a glorious Cello Day Orchestra performance, a copy of which will be sent to each participant.

We hope that this event will be the first step towards running larger, in-person Cello Days of cellistic community building and music making in the future
